Evangelina is a pop version of a melody and chords I’ve been playing on the guitar. The inspiration comes from my Aunt Henrietta, who was always laughing and smiling when the family got together. I wrote these lyrics about her life. The theme is simply to honor her and to share the love from a relationship that lasts a lifetime.ย

The original chorus was Oh Henrietta, which transformed into Evangelina after a visit to Venezuela. It’s a beautiful name which has a flow and rhythm that connects the chorus melody. I also decided to move the original coda to the chorus. Now the chorus chords move twice as fast creating momentum while cycling through and repeating the last four chords of the verse. It seemed like a better fit. The drums are one take. I added the keys, acoustic guitar, base and a few vocals. Pretty simple.
