This was the first song that really came together. While the Punk sound was taking off in Boston, I wanted to write an anti-song. No chorus. No melody. A Latin rhythm of 3 against 2 but done as slow jazzy funk.  Spoken word on top, with a skat feel. Before rap and hip hop. I say the date at the beginning of the recording as 1979. April 10th with lots of clicking sounds from the Tascam 4 track overdubbing.

In 1986 Max Camfield came to New York and we recorded this funky version. Max is playing guitars.

Bob Schott took this into the Editel Studio the same year. He did a full blown (back then) 24-track version. Fat 80’s sound. Ronny Trueherz on guitars. Bob added some keyboards.

Max Camfield made the latest version. He discovered Garage Band and went to town on this one. Earth Wind and Fire with a spoken word on top. A nice mash-up. Photo credit: 1956, William S. Eck. This is a photo in Robesonia, PA of my Uncles’ Alan, Ron, and Bill Seitz from left to right (stage). The case of Rolling Rock was clever, yes?
